Patrice Erickson is a realist artist based in Rochester Hills, Michigan. She works in oils specializing in portraits and landscapes. Her portrait work came about simply by her fascination for faces. She has always been a keen observer of people and knows that everyone has a story to tell, so getting the exactitude down on canvas is not her only goal. It is the personality and what makes that person unique that gets imbued into the portrait.
Her observational skills extend to nature as well. The most ordinary and commonly overlooked scenery of the outdoors captures her attention and inspires her landscape work. Trees standing in wild fields and rural pastures amongst weeds, wildflowers, and grasses are elements of her subject matter. Most of her paintings depict her surroundings in Michigan as well as Connecticut and other areas of New England where she grew up.
Patrice holds a B.F.A. degree in painting with High Honors from the University of Michigan-Flint and a B.S. degree from Central Connecticut State University. She has taken workshops with noted portrait artists Frank Covino and Larry Blovits.
