PLANNING: The artist begins the portrait procedure by getting to know the client and discussing ideas for the portrait. The mood (formal or casual), the size of the portrait, where it will be hung, the appropriate clothing to wear, the background, and any other elements the client wishes will be reviewed.
PHOTOGRAPHY SITTING: The artist works primarily from reference photographs that she takes herself, with the exception for posthumous portraits. The photography session lasts between 1 to 2 hours and will take place at either the client's home or office, in her studio, or outdoors. The location depends on the portrait concept agreed upon at the first meeting. Occasionally the first and second meeting can be combined. A non-refundable deposit of 40% will be due after the photography session. A contract will be signed with a start date established.
REVIEW: The artist will meet with the client again to review the best of the reference photographs to be used for the portrait painting. At that time any concerns or changes that the client would like made are discussed. Then a sketch is made to approximate what the finished portrait will look like. After the sketch is approved by the client she will begin the actual painting.
DELIVERY: The balance including any excessive travel expenses, shipping costs, framing, and sales tax is due at completion and delivery of the painting and acceptance by the client. Satisfaction is guaranteed.
